Vajrasattva Purification Retreat

Sat, Jan 30 – Wed, Feb 3

The retreat is suitable for all levels of experience. No previous meditation experience is needed.

Everyone welcome.

Everyone wants to be happy all the time, but often our past comes back to obstruct our present happiness. Buddha taught the main obstacle to making progress in the spiritual path is negative karma and the main cause of our suffering is our negative actions from the past. In this retreat, we will remove obstacles from our mind quickly  – leaving us refreshed, clean, and happy.

All of the sessions will be focused on the Meditation and Recitation of Solitary Vajrasattva prayer booklet — a powerful practice of purification, and a quick method to attain future happiness and spiritual realizations.

Amitayus Retreat

Time: 11 – 4 pm

Everyone welcome.

There’s nothing more precious to us than our life. Because we have a precious human life, we have the opportunity to experience both temporary and ultimate happiness. We need a long life. If we lose this life, we shall lose the opportunity to practice Dharma and attain liberation and enlightenment.

To overcome obstacles to long life and good health, we need to increase our lifespan and our wisdom. The principal method for doing this is the Yoga of Buddha Amitayus. This retreat will focus on prayers and guided meditation sessions.

So often it feels like love is as much a source of suffering as it is of happiness. We all wish for good relationships in our lives, but relationships between couples, parents and children, or friends often suffer from misunderstandings, unrealistic expectations and conflict. We love each other, and yet we are not always happy together. This is because we do not understand the real nature of love and how to practically improve our love in our close relationships.

In this workshop you will receive simple and practical advice about how to find meaning and enjoyment in all of your relationships. By keeping this practical and timeless advice in our heart, we will learn to be happy in the company of our partner, family, friends and co-workers — anyone we might encounter.

Do you miss the feeling of being in a meditation space? You can easily and inexpensively create a sacred space for home practice! Shrines are found not only in Buddhist Temples but also in the homes of practitioners who arrange shrines in a traditional manner as part of their meditation practice.

In this course, you will receive step-by-step instructions on how to set up a traditional Buddhist shrine. You'll learn the meaning of shrine objects and how, by bringing them into our space with sincerity, we can cultivate a mind that is calm, clear, and positive. You will also receive guidance and resources on where to find qualified shrine items, how to make offerings, and how to "kid proof" and "pet proof" your shrine so everyone at home is welcome in your meditation space.

Session Times

10 – 11 am: Setting Up Your Shrine (including advice on cleaning practice); Q & A

11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Making Offerings & Inviting the Holy Beings; Q & A ; Meditation & Dedication
